Cohort Model

The South Dakota Nonprofit Capacity Building program will be provided in a cohort model. Thirty applicants from across South Dakota will be selected to participate in each cohort. Over the course of the 15-month program, participants will learn together—and from one another—in the statewide cohort. In order to have a balanced and representative learning community, we will seek to have cohorts that are comprised of individuals that represent:

  • a mix of rural and urban communities, both where the organization individuals work for are located and where the primary services are offered;

  • diversity related to ethnicity and gender;

  • organizations that address a variety of important issue areas;

  • organizations of various budget and staff sizes; and,

  • organizations located in all regions of the state, so the cohort has exposure to perspectives from all across South Dakota.
